Day 01
01Sol / Cafés & bakeries
Chocolatería San Ginés
Begin here. Chocolate and churros are the reason to step into this long-established chocolatería beside the church of San Ginés. The original passageway location is a convenient sweet pause between Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor.
02Austrias / Culture
Plaza Mayor
Continue to this stop. Arcaded façades enclose a large rectangular square at the heart of old Madrid. Walk through several of its entrances to appreciate how the formal plaza connects to smaller streets, food stops and shops around it.
03Austrias / Food & drink
Sobrino de Botín
Continue to this stop. This traditional restaurant near Plaza Mayor is associated with Castilian roast dishes, especially suckling pig and lamb. Choose it for a sit-down meal in a historic setting, rather than treating its façade alone as the experience.
